Mark Chiu

Underwriter

Mark Chiu brings to Tuckerman a unique tech/entrepreneurial spirit with extensive insurance experience both in the US and London market.  Most recently, Mark was the Executive Vice President of Redacted, Inc. a venture capital backed cybersecurity company with $60 million of total raised funding.  There he had various roles as the Head of Insurance, Head of Finance and Special Projects.  Prior to that, he was the Vice President of the New York Specialty Programs Group of Ark Syndicate Management Ltd.  There he managed new and existing relationships with Coverholders/Managing General Agents developing Professional Liability, Management Liability, and other casualty insurance programs.  Prior to Ark Syndicate, Mark was at the Travelers Companies Bonds & Financial Products Group underwriting Management Liability.  He also worked at The Navigators Group where he played a critical role in the development of the Professional Liability Group both in the New York City office and London, UK office.  Mark holds a B.A. in Economics and International Relations from Tufts University and a Masters in Finance from London Business School. 

Kevin Ottley

Underwriter

Kevin Ottley joins Tuckerman Underwriting as a Senior Vice President, and is an industry leader with extensive experience in all Professional Liability lines.  He is a serial entrepreneur launching multiple managing general agencies throughout his career. 

 

Kevin started his insurance career in London, England in 1978, underwriting North American Professional Liability Insurance in the Lloyd’s market.  He then moved to Chicago in 1987 to launch and manage an insurance Syndicate on the Illinois Insurance Exchange specializing in Medical Professional, Lawyers Professional, Architects & Engineers Professional.

 

In 1995 Kevin launched Five Star Managers, a managing general underwriter with Professional Liability underwriting contracts from certain Underwriters at Lloyd’s.  He then moved to Commercial Insurance Partners, Inc. in 2014 to develop and manage various insurance programs supported by Lloyd’s.  Most recently he was the Senior Vice President at Canopy Specialty Insurance where he oversaw the launch of Canopy’s first US based Managing General Agency.

Jeremy Reese

Underwriter

​Jeremy Reese joins Tuckerman Underwriting as a Vice President bringing over a decade in the industry as part of a Lloyd’s Coverholder and MGA with a focus in Professional Liability and Specialty General Liability.  Within Professional Liability, Jeremy has extensive experience with Insurance Agent & Broker E&O, Commercial and FI D&O, as well as Cyber, and Crime coverage; Within General Liability, Jeremy has extensive experience with coverages for Amusement Devices, Axe Throwing, Agritainment, and other unique liability risk. 

He facilitated the oversight and management of several Lloyd's Binding Authorities in General Liability, Professional Liability, and Management Liability.  Jeremy’s expertise ranges from Data Auditing, Surplus Lines & Compliance, Operations, Underwriting, and Management.  Jeremy holds a bachelor’s degree from Rowan University. 

Christie Urita

Underwriter

Christie Urita joins Tuckerman Underwriting as a Vice President with over two decades in the insurance industry with a specialty focus on Professional Liability.  Christie is known for her meticulous attention to detail and innovative approach to risk assessment and underwriting.

Christie started her insurance career at Liberty Mutual and found her true passion in the surplus-lines brokerage space.  She became an expert in form comparisons and  endorsement manuscripting at her time at E.L.M. and RPS.  Most recently, Christie was the Program Manager Underwriter for SLB Pro-Tech an E&O/Cyber, Professional Liability, Healthcare Professional, and Management Liability business.  She organically grew the business into a $7 million dollar book of business prior to her departure.

Christie holds a Bachelor’s Degree from San Diego State University.

Barbara Vasili

Underwriter

Barbara Vasili joins Tuckerman Underwriting as an Underwriter bringing two and a half decades of insurance experience, specifically focused on Professional Liability.  Barbara began her career in 1997 at Scarborough a division of Aon in Chicago, IL.  She quickly moved up the ranks as a P&C Rater, then as an Assistant Underwriter for EPLI, Bond and D&O lines of business.

In 2000 she accepted a position as a Program Administrator at Five Star Managers where she played a critical role in the success of their direct to insured insurance product for Real Estate Appraisers E&O, and Life & Health Insurance Agents program.  She pioneered one of the first “insuretech” platform creating an online portal for insureds to complete an application and pay for their coverage with a click of a button.  Barbara also underwrote and managed a book of A&E, Lawyers Professional Liability, and various Miscellaneous E&O Products.

In 2018, Barbara joined Commercial Insurance Partners, Inc. as an E&O Underwriter, and was most recently at Canopy Specialty Insurance supporting the growth of their first US based Managing General Agency.
